Knit one, purr one!

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is calling on knitters across the UK to make catnip mice for the charity’s whiskered residents while they wait for new homes.

Summer is the busiest time of year for the cattery, which looks after up to 200 cats and kittens.

The feline friends love playing with homemade knitted mice, so if you’re looking for something special to knit, then get out your needles for this fantastic cause.

Battersea Rehomer Ros Davies says: “We’re approaching our busiest time of year and caring for so many cats is always a challenge. Cats that would normally go in days can take months to find a home, but while they wait for a new owner, we want to make their stay with us a little more fun and interesting. We know they love knitted mice.”

As well as knitted mice, Battersea’s cats also enjoy playing with woolly sticks. To find out more about the Cat Knit project, request a free knitted mice or woolly stick pattern, and to find out where to send your knitted gifts, please visit www.battersea.org.uk.
