World Wide Knit in Public Day is coming up, from June 12 to 20 (if you’re organising an event, you can pick the day that works best for your community). The aim of the day is pretty self-explanatory - to get out there and knit in a public place! Danielle Landes started the annual event in 2005 as a way to get knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company, and to stop knitting being a solitary pursuit. It’s also about publicising knitting itself, and showing the general public that it can be a community activity.
There are hundreds of events taking place worldwide, organised by local volunteers who put lots of effort into making sure everyone has an enjoyable time knitting, meeting new people and of course, eating plenty of cake! World Wide Knit in Public Day is in fact the largest knitter-run event in the world, and growing every year.

If you’d like to find an event happening in your area, click here http://www.wwkipday.com/find_kip.htm - there are around 20 listed in the UK so far!
