Knit Today team blog

If you’ve been following the football over in South Africa, you’ll know it’s currently their winter with temperatures at night getting very low indeed, and for underpriviliged children the weather can be dangerously cold. A charitable initative called the Gogo Trust is aiming to help these kids, both to keep the winter chill at bay, and to get involved in the World Cup spirit, by knitting and distributing special beanie hats.

The charity, which has so far knitted over 23,000 items for South African children, has created employment for over 450 women. They are aiming to knit 15,000 beanies this June and July in football team colours, which will then be distributed to kids in the cities matches are played in.
