Knit Today

It was the longest day on Monday, which means from now on the days get shorter. I hope the sun will continue for a few more weeks yet, but I always feel a little sad when it’s in retreat as that means the autumn won’t be far away! For us knitters, though, this does mean a whole host of new yarns and patterns are on the horizon.
Having had a sneaky peak at the designs coming up then, I think there’s certainly going to be a lot of exciting projects added to my list. In the meantime, we’ve had a taste of what we’ll potentially be wearing from the ready-to-wear catwalk shows earlier this year, and knitwear featured heavily.
Oversize mohair jumpers from Sonia Rykel, crochet dresses from Paul Smith, chunky aran knitwear from Pringle, and some particularly funky over-the-knee socks strutting down the catwalk at Prada will certainly have us on the hunt for similar patterns to get our needles clicking in the coming months.
For the moment, however, I’m going to enjoy the sunshine so I can make the most of wearing my summer knits!
