Knit Today team blog

Festival season is here again, and this year there’s something for us knitters and those who love a bit of vintage style!

Vintage at Goodwood is celebrating five decades of British Cool by highlighting music, fashion, film, art, dance and design from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. It’s the brainchild of Geraldine and Wayne Hemmingway (pictured below) – the names behind Red or Dead – along with Lord March, who masterminded the Goodwood Festival, and it looks like it’s going to be great fun!

Knitting workshops are held over the weekend with classes for beginners, and the chance to make a corsage for those more able! If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, then why not try your hand at machine sewing with everything from creating bunting to dandy cravattes and a 60s shift dress?

The fun doesn’t stop there.
• Catch a film in the mobile cinema
• Learn to tap dance
• Take a trip on the carousel in the vintage fun fair
• Get some retail therapy in the pop-up high street
• Play musical bingo
• Get a new ‘do’ in the vintage salon
and if that wasn’t enough for you, dance the night away to the great line up of bands they’ve found from far and wide.

Let’s hope we get a good dose of vintage good ole British summertime sunshine to make the whole weekend complete!

The festival runs from 13th- 15th August.
Weekend tickets £135 (+ parking and camping) or day tickets available at £55 (+ parking)
