Summer fun

With school holidays upon us, many of you will be looking for ways to keep the kids entertained – September is a long way off!

While fun days at the beach, camping breaks, football and trips to the park are great things to do on sunny days, why not spend some time passing on your knitting skills?

We recently heard about a knitting group from Merseyside who took on the challenge of teaching school children wartime crafts, such as knitting. Both the knitters and the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and many of the kids have continued to knit. They were delighted to learn a new skill, and the knitters said they learned a lot about childhood today too. (See Knit Today issue 48 for full story.)

Crafts such as knitting are a great way to spend quality time with children, and the kids will feel a great sense of achievement when they master something new – as will you, when you pass on your skills. Plus it’s a great way to fill a cloudy afternoon!
