We can all remember our favourite soft toy from childhood, which is why this organisation is so brilliant. Teddies for Tragedies provides knitted and crocheted toys for children in need across the world. It began in 1991, after a Sudanese refugee camp was given a large number of teddies, and the doctors there commented on how much hope and joy they gave the children. They now send fun and colourful teddies to many countries including South America, Eastern Europe and Asia. If you would like to knit a teddy for a child, visit
