Knitting for Europe's Forgotten Children

Postby CIDJane » Fri Apr 02, 2010 9:48 pm

Hi, I'm the Funding Development Manager for Children in Distress (http://www.childrenindistress.org.uk) and have a wonderful network of supporters who knit blankets, cardigans, jumpers, hats, scarves, gloves/mittens, teddies etc for the children we support in Eastern Europe, mainly Romania although we have recently taken goods to Moldova. We support in the region of 8,500 children so would love to welcome more "knitting/crocheting friends". If you would like to support CID, please contact me at janerussell@childrenindistress.org.uk - I would love to hear from you! :)

Hi Ann, Thank you for your interest. We require sizes from toddlers to teenagers (say 36" chest) and would like jumpers, cardigans, hats, scarves, gloves/mittens, blankets and toys please. All items can be sent to me; Jane Russell at Barmiranda, West Lund Lane, Kirkbymoorside, York, YO62 6AJ (I work for the charity from home) and I personally pack all the items to go to Romania. Shipments are made roughly every 8 weeks or so dependant of course on the amount of goods received. I also run a Handcrafters' Guild for the charity with the aim being to bring together all our wonderful "crafty" supporters. I send out a bi-monthly newsletter and also occasionally have some offers available. If you would be interested in joining the Guild (it's free!!), please email me a janerussell@childrenindistress.org.uk and I will forward you a membership form. Many thanks again for your interest and I look forward to hearing from you in the future :)
