There is a mistake in row 5 - it ought to say:

Row 5: K1, k2tog, *yon, k1, yon, k1, sl1, k2tog, psso, k1, yon, k1, yon, sl1, k2tog, psso, repeat from * to the end but working the last 3sts of the last repeat; K2tog, K1.

Thank you so much. I kept reaching row 5 and then was finding that I only ended up with 42 stitches and just couldn't work out why. I will try this suggestion. What a relief.
