Nikkim comes in brilliantly strong shades, with its richness in colour created through the hand dyeing process that takes place in rural South Africa. It creates a soft and light knitted fabric that is perfect for a cardigan or shrug, and costs just £3 a ball, which is great value. It works to a tension of 22 stitches and 30 rows to 10cm or 4in square, on 4mm needles.
